FAQ: How do I show a deal is shared with another practice or agency?

To show a deal is shared with another practice or agency, you must use line items.

Here's how to add Line Items from the Deal Record:

1.   Open the Deal record you want to add Line Items to

2.   In the upper-right panel, locate the Line Items card and click Edit

3.   Then click Add Line Item on the Line Items page that opens

To learn more about creating budgets, check out Creating Budgets with Line Items in HubSpot.

The split is managed by how you structure the deal line items (e.g., by practice or service), not by a dedicated deal split function as in some other CRMs.

DO NOT use the “fee percent” field.

  1. Select the appropriate retainers or project fees from the Product Library.
  2.  Under Practices, select the practice attributed to this portion of the work and revenue. An agency without a practice should only be selected in this field if multiple practices within that agency are working together and are not splitting the budget by practice, or they do not have separate practices.

  3. Fill out the rest of the line item fields.
    1. Services: Select the specific services the practice selected will be providing. (Note: only one service can be selected, so multiple line items will need to be created for each service provided, even if it is owned by the same practice; services are required)
    2. Unit Price: Input only the part of the budget allocated to the specific practice selected (Format: 10,0000)
    3. Billing Start Date: At Payment is the default
    4. Fee Percent: Leave this blank
    5. Quantity: This should be 1 if using a pre-populated retainer.
    6. Agency
    7. Billing Frequency: Monthly is the default. This should generally be selected for all retainers.
  4. Once all of the fields have been filled out, click Save in the bottom right hand corner.
